What an awesome little book. This is a must have for any family. Additive Free shopping guide is a list of over 800 products in your supermarket that are totally additive free written by Tanya Winfield. Tanya is a dedicated mum that believes in REAL FOOD! She has studied the back of every packet to ensure that every ingredient is only one that comes from nature and she has put it all in a handy little book so even the busiest parent has no excuse for not bringing home additive-free food. Our bodies were made to process REAL food, not food like products and if we pump our kids full of fake food they are the ones that will suffer in the long run, its not fair on them. We want whats best for our children so additives are a big NO NO! This is the easiest guide to read and will fit in your hand bag so you can have it on hand at the shops. Its great!

Go here to buy a copy of Additive Free Shopping Guide

Tanya has given me a copy of the Additive Free Shopping guide to gift to one CHOOSE LIFE, LIVE IT, DO IT reader. All you need to do to enter is answer this question in the comments below:

We know activated almonds are good for you but Tamari almonds are so freaking yummy! The bummer with tamari almonds though is that they are roasted so the nutrients are stripped as soon as you put them in the oven. So I put my dehydrator into action and am providing you with a very simple, super yummy way to have your cake and eat it too (the tamari almond way)...

What you will need:
400 grams Raw Almonds
Filtered water
1/4 cup Tamari Sauce

Place your raw almonds in a large bowl and put enough filtered water in to cover the almonds. The cover with a lid and leave to soak over night.
In the morning rinse the activated almonds and place back in the clean bowl.
Pore in the tamari sauce and stir through. Leave to marinate for about 1/2 hour stirring occasionally.
Get rid of the excess sauce and place almonds evenly on on the dehydrator trays.
Turn dehydrator on medium heat and leave to dehydrate for 12 hours.

Note: You can store these for quite a while in an air tight container.
Note #2: If you don't have a dehydrator you can do this in the oven for the same time on an extremely low heat. Almost as low as it can go.

Calling out to all the lovely Ladies on the Northern Beaches! We have an awesome event coming up. On my fun filled journey of becoming all natural I thought my blonde hair would be coming to an end and then... I was at the farmers market and stumbled across the most amazingly passionate organic hair dresser that is just up the road. YAY! Rosanna owns and managers Organic Salon Dimensions in Terry Hills. Its a lovely little salon that is totally chemical free. My hair is quite light anyway but there is nothing like a few highlights to brighten your look huh? I have been in many salons where my scalp has been burnt, I have had to close my eyes because the fumes are so harsh that they were burning my eyes. And the worst thing was that my hair was breaking off at the root and leaving a nice little afro on the top of my head, not a good look. I was still a bit sceptical when I walked into the salon for the first time a few weeks ago but when I sat down and Rosanna asked me to smell my colour/bleach I was in shock thinking; "Does she want to get me high?" So I went in slowing for a smell and WOW it smelt like aromatherapy oils, it was beautiful! Total shock, I could actually relax and get my done instead of holding onto my seat praying that my hair wont all break off. It was so nice and the hair dressers are all so lovely. I even got a toxic free pedicure while I was waiting for my colour to set, it was bliss.

Rosanna is so passionate about keeping us all glamourous without compromise. She has researched into every product and only wants to give people the best of the best. We can all still love our make up, love getting our nails done, love getting our hair coloured... We don't have to go all hippy, we just need to know what products to start with, so I have teamed with Rosanna to bring all you lovely ladies a night of fun, pampering and education. I really hope you can join us. Details below. I cant wait!

Do you want to make the switch to a chemical-free lifestyle while staying glamorous... without compromise?

OUR NEW LOOK... Do you love it???

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend! Miss P is having her nap and the REAL food chef is in the kitchen creating some delicious-ness so I have a minute to enjoy my dandelion tea and thought I would give you the low down on our new look.
I had the opportunity of meeting Mandie from Tenfive designs a couple of months ago over at the Northern Beaches Mumpreneurs facebook group. Firstly; I love working with mums in the local area. Its great to support each other. When I checked out her website I fell in love with her design work in her portfolio. I slowly got my act together and then a few weeks ago I got in touch with her to help me create something AMAZING... and that she did = Our new look!
I have to admit, going into this I was pretty nervous as to what would come out at the end as I have worked with a couple of graphic designers before for prints and it was a disaster. They never usually understand what I have in my head and its always a total disappointment. I always have a pretty clear picture of what I don't want in my head but never exactly what I do want. So my fingers and toes were crossed that Mandie and I would understand each other and have a great end product. And I am so unbelievably happy with the end product. Mandie was so amazing to work with; so so so easy.  I would definitely recommend tenfive designs. She took everything from the brief and we worked so well together to create something I love! Something thats out there, full of life, adventure and fun!

Choose life, live it, do it is all about choosing to live the life you love and achieving your dreams through conscious lifestyle choices. Its all about setting goals and making them happen. I have an amazing life and thats because I choose to live it and do it! I have so many exciting new projects to come including guilt-free cooking workshops, raw food workshops, and a top secret project I am hoping to have done by the end of the year (maybe a book, but don't tell anyone) so keep posted and in the mean time if you want to come coach with me just send me an email. Your only a click away from being AMAZING!

So what do you think? Do you love it?

My Morning rituals - A mothers point of view

I have been reading alot of blogs lately where the writer expresses the importance of a morning ritual delving into the luxury of meditation, followed by body brushing, then into the 7 steps to waking up their bodies and finishing off with a blissful bit of yoga. As I read all  these fantastic things that I feel like I should be doing every morning I start feeling a little bad to myself, like I am letting myself down by not doing all these fabulous things... And then my mind goes to a bit of jelously; why can she do it and I cant? And then... I just laugh... And realise that it is definitely not written by a mum! A mum doesnt have that much time in the morning for herself. Mornings are filled with running around, organising breakfast, getting school uniforms ready, children dressed, fed and out the door. I approached one of my dear friends about this issue (she isnt a mum). I said, there is no way in hell a mum can do all these blissful rituals every morning. She looked at me and said; "well, you could. You would just need to get up earlier". Hmmmmm yes I could, but do I want to? My kid wakes up at the latest 6.30am every morning, she usally sleeps the second half of the night in bed with me so to put an alarm on would wake her up too. And do I really want to get up at 5am? Would this be good for me? One word... NO! Everyone is different and in saying this, I am not throwing morning rituals out the window, I think they are great. They are the perfect way to conect with yourself and look after your body. We need to look after ourselves as mums, we have to keep ourselves together so we can look after the tribe. So instead of getting upset at myself by not making an effort to be up and meditating I have decided to add; "sleep as long as you can, dont move until you hear movement" to my morning ritual. A morning ritual can be as simple as having a cuddle with your kids, going for a walk, making a smoothie, or taking a few deap breathes. So here goes; my morning ritual is as follows - a mothers point of view.

1. Breathe - In our house, as soon as I move, my girl wakes up... "mum!" So to give myself 5 minutes (sometimes 0, sometimes 10 mins) I keep very still in bed. This is a good time to take a few deap breathes. Lie still and just be.

2. Apple cider Vinigar - Ok so the kid is awake, I get her breakfast made and under her chin and I pour myself 1 table spoon of Braggs raw apple cider vinigar in a glass of warm water and sip (sometimes skull it down, sometimes pore it into the glass and dont get to the first sip before it is cold).

3. Supplements - Zinc, Spirulina, and Psyllium Husks into a glass of water and drink it down. Follow it with another glass of water. This is usually done in a rush. Alot of the time I dont get to it until lunch time. But it gets done. I love my psyllium.

4. Dandlion Tea - Between getting the kid dressed, me showered and dressed and checking emails I make myself a dandlion tea with a dash of rice milk. BLISS! (This is sometimes made and put to the side and drank cold).

5. Breakfast - Vege juice or a smoothie... I try to get miss P involved so she has interest in also drinking it, its fun too.

5. Exersise - I am loving getting outside in the fresh air at the moment so I have been going for some good walks with P in the pram.

Do you have a morning ritual? What are your morning rituals as a mum??? Would love to hear them!

DETOX REVIEW: The Goodness Company... Oh How I love you!

WOW! I feel amazing!
I have done juice cleanses in the past, but this is not a juice cleanse, this is a real insides cleanse. When you drink juice all day long you are getting a hit of nutrients but you are also getting a big shot of sugar too. Juice is defnitely high in nutrients and a great way to give your digestive system a break but sometimes the sugar can aggravate what you are trying to do; cleanse and detox the body of the bad bugs in your belly.
The goodness company are awesome. They are dedicated to spreading the word of good health through delicious (and I'm talking out of the world amazingly delicious) Raw living foods. They make everything in their kitchen by hand with love. They have so many amazing products including fresh nut mylks, Fruits, Nuts and Seeds, Raw chocolate, Oragnic beverages including Australian coconut water, sweeteners, oils, Super food powders supplements and now their brand new detox program. Their moto is; "Super foods, make Super Humans". I love it! You can read more about the Goodness company here.

When I picked up my goddies I was lucky enough to taste their guilt free yummy Key lime tart and chocolate tart. WOW! YUMMO!
I had a lovely chat with the inspiring Sibele who has an amazing story of her own... What a lovely lady. They are just so passionate about what they do. The company really wants to help people and lead them in the right path to health. AMAZING! I was given the tour of the kitchen and then the taste tests came out = WOW! YUM! You have to get over to their website and order the Key lime tart, the crackers and snacks. Everything is just so yummy, so real and so alive! Can you tell I am in love with them???

Ok so the detox... I completed the 4 day transition program. This is a great option for people who are new to detoxing or still want a solid food component to their detox day and is a very effective form of detox. You have the 3 products below plus 1 meal at lunch time; a salad!

About The Goodness Companies Transition detox program MENU and run down -

When doing the transition detox program you receive 3 products.
1) Kombucha.
You have this as soon as you wake up and last thing when you go to bed. Kombucha is a sparkling fermented tea that is created by the kombucha mushroom being added and left to grow in tea. In this case the culture or mother is grown in organic green tea which has been sweetened with coconut palm sugar. The mother grows on the surface of the tea and feeds on the sugar eating 97% in 10 to 14 days. This is then bottled. It is an extraordinary superfood!!!! I was so inspired and loving this stuff so much that I ordered my own mother and have started brewing some.

- Follow this up with herbal tea or warm water and lemon until you begin to feel hungry then consume your smoothie. The longer time you wait to do this the more digestive rest your body gets, increasing the detox phase of the cleanse. About 10am would be a good time for this but its fine to have it earlier.

2) A Superfood Shake.

- A late lunch when you are hungry for salad or veges. Think about a large salad of greens, seeds and nuts and sweet fruits such as tomatoes, red pepper, sprouts, asparagus with simple dressings such as olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Dips with cut up veges is great too or simple vege stews or soups. Try to eat as much as you can raw. Keep your fluids up.
- Drink this before 7pm. The longer you can give your body between meals and especially last meal at night to first meal in the morning the better.

How did I go?
Well, this cleanse is fantastic. As I have mentioned before, Hunger is 90% in the mind and I am getting a little better at switching the hunger switch off, especially when you know your doing something so good for your body. This was the perfect cleanse for me as it was very low in sugar. I made sure my lunch time meal was a very yummy green salad, very light yet so tasty that I didnt feel I was missing out on anything and then early to bed. I felt truly amazing every day. And to make things even better I got on the scales on the last day and had dropped 2 kgs and have kept it off = WIN!
It was a REAL cleanse of the insides and it was a great way to give my digestive system a rest. I would highly recommend this detox to everyone... Click here to check out everything the goodness Company has on offer!

TOXIC FREE FIND: Little Innoscents Natural, Organic, Baby Skin Care Range + a COMPETITION

Through this dreaded bug filled cold and flu season I have been looking and looking for a good chest rub that is totally chemical free. My babe has only had one little cold this winter but when it hit her grandmother (my mum) was so so so worried... Golly gosh it was like no other toddler had ever had a cold before. Me, on the other hand am the total opposite. I am the one that says, she'll be right, it's nothing. My my mum kept going on and on at how I need to give her something for it, the amount of times I heard the line; "Just put some Vicks on her." I could of screamed, firstly even on the packet it says that it is not safe for any child under 2... and secondly it is a toxic, chemical filled concoction that we are supposed to put on the chests of our sick kids... OMG! NO WAY!
So as I started to feel a little bad as my little girl was developing a cough I went in search of a natural alternative... I have been meaning to make up a yummy sugar free sushi recipe for a while now but find it really hard to find a good organic brown rice that sticks and holds together nicely. All the brown rice I have used is too dry and then once you roll up the sushi it all falls apart and you cant enjoy it. Last week I found what I have been looking for, and oh man does it taste amazing! Organic Brown Koshihikari Rice from Honest to Goodness. Honest to goodness is a one stop organic shop for grains, flours, nuts, dried fruits, the most amazing medjool dates, natural soaps, pantry staples, the list goes on and on... They have it all! Honest to Goodness's Organic Brown Koshihikari Rice a new Aussie grown, sustainable short grain rice.

Why make Brown rice sushi with Honest to Goodness's Organic Brown Koshihikari Rice?
It is the perfect premium short grain rice with all of the added benefits of the whole brown rice grain! Koshihikari is your typical Japanese style sushi rice, making it a fabulous alternative to regular white rice sushi. It has a natural sweetness and a firm yet creamy texture. The glycaemic index is relatively low in comparison to your regular white sushi rice, as this brown Koshihikari has a high amount of resistant starch meaning it's broken down slowly which raises blood sugar levels at a steady rate. It is also suitable for risotto, rice puddings and as a healthy accompaniment for stews, stir-fries and curries. Click here to get yourself some.

Health benefits
  • 100% wholegrain
  • LowGI
  • Healthy unsaturated fats are retained in the bran
  • High in dietary fibre
  • Rich in natural nutrients; B vitamins, zinc, phosphorus, Vitamin E, magnesium, potassium
  • 8 essential amino acids
  • Gluten Free
  • Free from preservatives, additives and pesticides...No Nasties!
You want to know about the growers?
This Koshihikari rice is grown by Randall Organic Rice, a family farm located in the Murrumbidgee Valley in southern NSW. They are third generation rice farmers who have farmed organically for more than twenty years and are certified with NASAA. They use no pesticides or artificial fertilisers but instead use long crop rotations, sheep grazing and legumes to promote fertility. They also use probiotics to increase soil health and enhance the quality of their rice. The probiotics are made using ancient Japanese techniques combining beneficial bacteria and fungi to produce a type of soil yogurt which is applied to their whole farm. This is one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable ways to grow gravity fed rice. Peter and Jenny’s aim is to provide eco-friendly, nutritious and tasty rice for everyone to enjoy whilst caring for the environment.

Lets get cooking!

2 cups Organic Brown Koshihikari Rice
3 cups water
2 Tbsp Raw organic Apple cider vinigar
2 Tbsp Tamari sauce
1/2 cup sesame seeds
Fillings of your choice
Nori sheets

  1. Place Organic Brown Koshihikari Rice in a large bowl and cover with water, add 1 Tbsp of Apple cider vinegar, stir and then cover. Leave over night to soak and ferment. For more info on soaking grains click here
  2. In the morning rinse rice thoroughly and cook rice as directed on the back of packet.
  3. Once rice is cooked, strain and then place into a large bowl.
  4. While the rice is still warm mix through 1 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 2 Tbsp tamari sauce and the sesame seeds. Then leave to cool.
  5. Once rice mixture is cool, lay nori sheet out, cover 1/2 the sheet with a thin layer of the yummy rice mixture. Layer on your favourite fillings (I used tuna and avocado).
  6. Roll the sheets very tightly with a sushi mat or without, what ever is easier for you. Keep rolling rolls until you have as many as you desire. This mixture makes lots.
  7. Use a very sharp wet knife to slice sushi and ENJOY!
This sushi is seriously amazing! I love the taste of the tamari and the little bit of crunch from the sesame seeds. LOVE IT! YUM!

Life: A week to be with me.

A Walk (without a pram) in the blissful winter weather.
WOW! What a week that was. I am just coming to the end of my week holiday at home by myself... I wont lie. It has been bliss! No winging, no cleaning, no cooking (well not everyday feeding the troop type), no cuddles, just time to be with me. At the beginning of the week a friend said to me, "Do you miss them?' I thought for a moment, of cause I miss them but I miss me more. That is in no means to be selfish, I absolutely love being a mum to my beautiful girl and a wife to my fabulous husband but once you are in the everyday roles of being a mum and a wife you loose track of the things that you once loved. And I am talking basic stuff like going to the toilet by yourself, going for a walk by yourself, having a conversation to a friend or just simply being able to go off and do what you want when you want without having to think of anyone else. So this week I caught up on all the things that have been pushed to the side, some blissful pampering, a night out dancing and had some much needed me time. It was so nice to just be. I feel totally revived and excited to give me 2 fav's big kisses and cuddles tomorrow when they return. So here are a few of the things I got up to this week.
Anti Gravity Yoga lesson with my beautiful friend Rikai and Emy. This was so much fun, such a wonderful experience and a fun day out. We had such a lovely girls weekend together. I loved every minute. Thanks girls!
Breakfast with my sister. How amazing it is to eat breakfast without interruption and enjoy it.
Pedicure! YAY!

Farmers market shopping without and distraction.

New Hair; well old hair... Just bringing my hair back to where it should be. Plus new eye brows.
Check this place out in Bondi = AMAZING! The last resort organic detox spa.

Night out dancing with Bridget! FUN FUN FUN!
