What is an ADDITIVE?

Source

Guest Post by Tanya Winfield - Additive Free Expert

What is an additive?

As a mother of three living in Australia I thought in this day and age we would be safe to consume foods here. WRONG!!!

There is a standard board known as Food Standard Australia & New Zealand (FSANZ), though I do not believe they have the health and wellbeing of our children at the top of their list. If this was true there would be NO harmful additives allowed within ANY Australian foods.

Source
So what is an additive? Additives are known as colours, flavour enhancers, gelling agents, emulsifiers, stabilizers, sweetening agents, bulking agents, glazing agents, humectants, Flour treatments, anti caking agents, antioxidants, preservatives and more.

These are used to change the taste, colour, texture and use by dates.  You will find additives in any product food type. It is just learning what brands to buy that are made by manufacturers who care about their consumer and stand behind the products they sell. When I make a chocolate cake I certainly do not use 15 to 20 ingredients, like you will find in any standard supermarket bakery.

Removing additives from your diet is easy to do.  Firstly you need to be angry, annoyed and fed up with what is really going on. Next you just need the tools, it is that simple! There are some super easy to use resources available on my website www.additivefreepantry.com . It is about becoming supermarket savvy, knowing what to look for and READING the labels.
http://additivefreepantry.com/

Look if I can do it you can do it!

All it takes is for you to say enough is enough and to no longer support the companies that provide an inferior product. SIMPLE really!

Tanya believes everyone can choose to eat addive free foods, you just need to know how, why and where to start.

CHALLENGE: ADDITIVE-FREE-OCTOBER

You asked for it... ADDITIVE-FREE-OCTOBER!!!!

SHARE IT AROUND! Sugar free September is coming to an end and why not STAY MOTIVATED AND BRING MORE CLEAN EATING INTO YOUR FAMILY! ITS SO EASY TO DO... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL YOUR DEDICATION OVER THE LAST MONTH! IT HAS INSPIRED ME TO KEEP DOING WHAT I'M DOING AND YOU ARE ALL AMAZING! The good news is that once you have tried sugar free; additive free is easy! You have all become professional Ingredients-list-readers and thats the hardest part. If you are up for the challenge, I would love you to take part!!! I would also highly recommend the additive free shopping list from Additive-Free Pantry. It has lists and lists of every food in each and every supermarket (coles, woolworths, aldi, etc) that you can eat; and yes it includes chips, lollies, ice cream... all the cheeky stuff!

Chemicals added to our foods are such scary things, as our body not only cant digest them, but they totally screw with our children's development, attention, focus and learning!!!! If you haven't involved your children already in a cleaner way of eating, this is definitely one to get them involved! You will notice a different within days!!! I am promising you that you can even create a child's bright colour filled birthday party totally additive free, sacrificing no colour or taste, its just about using the right/clean ingredients!!!! I hope you are going to be involved and help to bring awareness to nasty food additives that our bodies CANT PROCESS and DONT NEED!!!

TOXIC FREE FIND: Adorn Mineral Foundation + a GIVEAWAY

ADORN MINERAL LOOSE FOUNDATION

Recently I have had the opportunity to try the fab Adorn Mineral Loose foundation. I was a little unsure as to whether I would like this foundation when I first received it and to be honest with you, I kept it to the side for a few days thinking it might not work on my dry skin. I have tried a fair few natural foundations lately and they are either too sheer (no coverage) or they are too powdery leaving me with the powder puff look. Either look, I am not a fan of so I have been a little hazy when it comes to natural foundations. Anyone with dry skin knows that powders don't always give a good look. In saying this, I did not want to give up completely to find the perfect natural foundation for me so I gave this one a go; Adorn Mineral Cosmetics Loose Foundation
What a shock I got when I put it on and it looked AMAZING! When using the specialised Vegan Kabuki Brush you can apply either a light , sheer look or keep adding for maximum coverage. NO POWDER PUFF LOOK! YAY! I am serious when I say it gives the most amazing glamourous moisturised sheen to the skin... Its beautiful!  It is only made from natural ingredients so it is good for your skin. It has a 15+ sunscreen and it is even known to cover pigmentation, scars, rosacea, bruising, blemishes, veins and even birth marks!
I would highly recommend it to anyone that needs a bit of an up lift in their day or wants flawless coverage for the glamourous look for a night out dancing!

REVIEW: LUNCH BOXES WITH LOVE + A GIVEAWAY

Source
Doesn't every mother want to feed their children the best food possible? I should hope so. Our children are so precious and we should be making every meal as nutrient dense as possible to feed their growing and developing little bodies. School lunches are where alot of parents can go wrong; this sounds a bit harsh and most of the time its no their fault, but its true. I don't know how many mums and dads I see in the supermarket loading their trolley up with junk and utter crap; little packets of chips, muesli bars, tubs of sugar filled yogurts, the list is endless and the parents don't think their doing anything wrong. Well, its time to WAKE UP!

What happened to the old fashioned apple and a sandwich? Well, life is a bit more complicated, marketing just keeps getting better and kids keep wanting more. Its hard to keep up with the next trend.
What I have mentioned time and time again is that children dont need all the junk, they need nutrients to fuel their growing bodies and learning brains.
What kids love the most when it comes to their lunches is it being fun and inviting. Lunch Boxes with Love makes lunch fun without all the crap. Kids dont need all the sugar and chemical filled packet food at school. How are they supposed to concentrate and learn after biting down on refined grains and sugars? They cant! We cant expect them too. We need to get back to the basics and feeding our children REAL FOOD. Lunch Boxes with love products are a great way to get the good stuff into your children. Here is some info from their great website and below are some pictures of what I got up to creating a lunch box of love this week. I definitely LOVE LOVE LOVE the boiled egg moulds the best. Such an Awesome idea!

Lunch Boxes With Love
has been created for you by a mum who is passionate about providing her kids with delicious and varied lunches which are fun and practical too.
We offer a range of products including boiled egg molds, to transform your plain old boiled egg into a car or a bunny, sandwich cutters to shape your sandwich into anything from a Train to a Princess.
The team at Lunch Boxes With Love has compiled a range of adorable & eco friendly Lunch products to make kids lunches fun and enjoyable.
We can help you turn any boring old lunch into a work of art that NO CHILD could resist!" ... http://www.lunchboxeswithlove.com/
