Hi everyone,

My name is Yvette Sinclair, I'm going to be contributing fortnightly on Choose life, live it, so it's website ( thanks Cass I'm so excited!!! Xx ) I'll start with a brief history on topic and my philosophy in general-

I'm a qualified beauty therapist, having worked with the likes lancĂ´me, channel, clarins and worked in day spas. Over the past few years I have gravitated towards a more holistic approach. This will be the essences of discussion, incorporating natural beauty remedies, skin care tips and more organic approach to make up.

So stay turned girls, next time I'll be talking about cleansing with oils! And how it can improve your skin condition.

My little tip this week is try and have a make up free day!!! Let your skin breath.

Yvette. Xxx

RECIPE: Seriously Sexy Summer Salad

Oh man I am loving fruit at the moment!!!! I could eat 5 oranges in a day (but I try not too)! Greens on the other hand, I am struggling with... So I thought, why not add my latest enemies together and make something amazing! Yesterday when I got home from a fun filled day with some lovely mums I wanted to wipp together something for dinner that was easy, yummy, super summery and thirst quenching. Theres something about pregnancy that makes your mouth feel dry and dehydrated all the time and that is why I am loving fruit so much, it hits the thirsty spot!
If you need a protein hit be sure to add some thinly sliced grilled chicken, beef, lamb, turkey, any meat to this masterpiece!

100 grams of grape tomatoes
1 cucumber, sliced into triangles
1/2 cup walnuts

The Dressing
Mix together;
Juice from 1 orange
2 tblsp Olive oil
Large pinch of salt and pepper.

Method:

  1. Pull apart pomegranate, finely chop mango and cucumber.
  2. Throw every thing in the bowl and mix through with hands.
  3. Pour dressing through and toss, toss toss... YUM YUM YUM! ENJOY!

4 drinks to Refresh, Revive and Hydrate you back to life!

There is nothing worse than waking up to a hang over! And by hangover I mean the first trimester pregnancy type one I have been dealing with lately; there is nothing worse than waking up to who-called-this-morning-sickness-its-all-the-time-sickness. The feeling in your head and mouth that you have been out all night on a bender drinking at lease 10 Margaritas when you clearly haven't is not good!!! It's like a hangover over you really don't deserve!
So to battle on and try to keep up the energy for my little one these are the 4 drinks I have had on tap to refresh, revive and hydrate me back to life! THEY ARE YUMMY! ENJOY!

MY Saviour: Wake up to a Lemon and Ginger Tea (And drink it all day if you need to)

source
Ginger is known to be the key to feeling better when nauseas, sea sick and especially morning sickness.  ginger in the mornings is a safe and natural remedy for pregnant women. It is a good source of Vitamin C, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.

Lemon is perfect for setting the body straight when you wake up in the morning, it is used to alkalise the body,

1 x large thumb of finely chopped (or grated) Fresh Ginger

1 quarter of a lemon
1 cup boiling water

Squeeze lemon juice into the cup and then Add everything into the cup including lemon rind and led brew for at least 5 minutes. Sip slowly and enjoy!

Hydration: Coconut Water

Coconut water holds natural electrolytes and will hydrate your body at least 4 times better than water. That is why it is known as a great hang over cure. Also fabulous for nausea, vomiting, morning sickness and toilet bugs. Try sipping on some of this stuff or freeze it down into icy poles... its taste refreshing and delicious!
Coconut water is low in fat and calories, has no cholesterol and has a natural balance of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium - making it the wonder drink it is.

Energy lift and a bit of burn : Fresh Carrot, Apple and Ginger Juice

source
Once again ginger is the key to this fresh juice! as mentioned above it is great for nauseas and is a good source of Vitamin C, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.
The apple and carrot give the juice its sweet flavour as well as a good burst of energy to get you back on your feet to face the world! Carrots are full of Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Manganese, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Potassium. Apples are a great source of vitamin C.

1 x carrot

1 x apple
1 thumb of free peeled ginger

Put all ingredients through the juicer and then stir. Enjoy the uplifting sweet taste and burn of the ginger to settle your guts!

Energy kicker: Strawberry, Blueberry, Banana and Coconut water Crusher

For me, there is nothing better than a fruity slushy when you are feeling dehydrated and rundown! This is a high energy fruity mix of electrolytes, Vitamin C, Potassium, Manganese, Vitamin B6, folate, vitamin K and a great source of Dietary Fibre!

1 x really ripe banana

3 x super ripe strawberries
4-5 x frozen blueberries
half a cup of coconut water
A handful of greens (if you are feeling like you are lacking them, which I'm sure most of us are)

Throw all ingredients in the blender... OMG! YUM!!!!!! So refreshing and full of energy!

Cass xoxo
