Having 2 children and feeling the "is it time for a sleep again??" from the baby; getting out is becoming harder and harder. Gone are the days of my newborn sleeping anywhere and more of the days with an active little mover and quiet time at home. The days are getting hotter, and longer and park dates are sadly getting few and far in between. And the (almost) 3 year old is getting crazier and CRAZIER!!!!! Cabin fever may be setting in.
Our yard is huge and full of veggie goodness but only recently moving from a townhouse we haven't had a moment to make an outdoor kids space. We think its time to create a space for the big girl to enjoy some outside having fun while the baby naps and of cause give something for Sunny to grow into!

Simple Answer = A SWING 'N' SLIDE from Awesome Playgrounds!!!

This has been an exciting week!!! This Swing 'N' Slide combo is a brand new product at Awesome Playgrounds and it is AMAZING! Isn't is pretty?

Looking forward to our delivery, I got a phone call from the delivery man at the bottom of my (very long) drive way to ask if there was a man home, a strong man. The answer being no; I struggled up the driveway, walking each piece to my backyard. Great exercise actually; I was sore the next day! HAHA!... This massive pallet consisted of Cyprus wood, bolts, screws, joiners and an instruction booklet. So next step; my husband and I became builders! It was a wet weekend but we were determined to get it up and running quick smart. We battled with the weather; one minute porring rain the next sunshine. Each burst of sunshine we ran out to join the nest bit. It was quite funny actually. After a few hours; and a couple of rain breaks, it was assembled. Surprisingly super easy! The simple instructions really helped to get it together very easily.

RESULT = The kiddies LOVEEEEEE it and I think I may love it just as much! I can actually go out the back and put the washing out without being nagged; WIN! It has definitely taken us outside more, having fun at home and Little P is running wild burning that energy that constantly bursts out of her. And Sunny; oh man he is so cute on that swing. He loves it so much, its adorable!

HELLO OUT THERE, I'm ready to meet you!

When I first began blogging, I didn't know about "blogging". I didn't know about other bloggers, I didn't know that bloggers talked to each other or were friends, I didn't know mums blogged about day to day Mayhem, I didn't know bloggers could win awards. I didn't even know their were blogs about blogging.

When I began blogging (only just over a year ago); all I knew were a couple of healthy recipe blogs, these blogs I idolised, read, re-read and then read them again. They would post a weekly recipe, some amazingly healthy information and the gorgeous food picture to go with it to make your mouth water. It was what I wanted my blog to be; an educational resource for people to be inspired, definitely nothing about me... I knew quite a few people that started a blog at the same time I did, but they were more like online diaries, blogs about being a mum, sharing the day to day routine. I took a look but didn't get it, I didn't get why anyone would want to write about their life on the internet.
As I become more consumed in being a mum, less time to study and more consumed in blogging; I notice how my blog has evolved into something I never thought it would be... It's a mummy blog... And now I LOVE THAT! I love sharing my journey whilst still having an aspect of healthy parenting and sustainable living thrown into the mix. Being a mummy blogger and watching just how big the blogging community is and how tight knit they are makes me realise how out of touch I have been. I have a little look at other blogs and see so much conversation between bloggers and I just sigh with the thought of "How does everyone have the time to chat???" At times, I struggle to get my kids fed, bathed, into bed and then get onto my blog posts, let alone, read other peoples blogs and start e-meeting all these amazing people out there. Life is busy! BUT blogging can get a bit lonely and as I do see this amazing supportive environment out there, it makes me want to be part of it, it makes me want to meet other bloggers!

SO Yes, It may of taken me a while but to the blogging community out there, I have come out from under my rock and I am ready, I would love to meet you!

Do you have a a blog? I would love to check it out; please leave your link below!

Nutrient Dense Hydration Inspiration...

Todays scorcher of an afternoon had me knocking back lemon water like it was the last drop I was to find ever again and as I sat down to check emails a beautiful picture of fruit infused water popped into my facebook newsfeed . It made me begin thinking of summer to come and how fun and yummy it is to make such drinks with the kids. I love infusing water and its so simple; you just add your fruit of choice to a jar of water and let sit to infuse for an hour and its done. They not only look so beautiful but they taste amazing and are full of nutrient dense goodness! So if you haven't already, this summer PLEASE make a switch... Get rid of the cordial and store bought high sugar containing juices and experiment with natures vitamin water! Just check out the pics above... Isn't your mouth watering already? Get inspired!

Pia-ballet-girls room tour

I have wanted to show you my little P's big girl room for a while now, well really as soon as we made it a little special and a bit pretty.

I don't show many house-y things on the blog, because, I'm not really a house-y person. I'm a food person and I like things to look good but I'm not good with design and I don't create very well. I find it hard to see the great in something not-so-great , I find things amazing that are already amazing!

When we moved into our retro home, we moved all P's stuff into her room, we put in a vintage wardrobe we picked up off the street and it looked ok but it was dull! Who am I kidding, it was super dull! Little P's room is in a shady corner of the house, very limited sunlight and big wiped out wooden built in that does the room no justice. As we began to create a space for our upcoming arrival; Sunny, his room looked amazing, so much colour, so much attention and P P was so involved and so excited! The prettier the babies room became the more drab poor P's room became... So after a chat with Mim (my mum), we decided little P needed a big girl room, a revamp, some attention to her !!!!

So this is what we did; new curtains (made by my mum), white furniture, some cute pictures and way too much pink!!!!*

Next will be a "real" big girl bed but for now the trundle* will keep her from any midnight falls.

What age did your kids graduate to a big kid bed/room? Did you make any changes?

* I never wanted a pink obsession but its a little girls delight so I must run with it!
* This was my first bed!

What a shocker...

This past week has definitely been one that I wouldn't be fussed if I forgot it; and today has put the icing on the cake.

After a week of sickness and having no husband in sight to help pick up the pieces, it has been a struggle.

To my delight my mum came up yesterday and took the big girl off my hands for a sleep over at her great grandmothers (GG's) house. A quiet morning was to be had to get over the week that was until my hyperactive boy made a swing for the edge of the bed and launched himself straight off it. A bang that I never wanted to hear and a scream that could make me feel sick for days, yes, he fell off the bed!  Bruised and battered, he is totally fine but I took him to get checked over and then I spent the rest of the day at home just looking at his face. Looking at his sweet little smiles and listening to his funny sounds of chatter, it was just him and I, laying about, being together all day long. Something we NEVER get the chance to do.
It reminded me of when little P was a baby and the time we would spend together hanging out on a picnic rug, just loving each other... Having a 2 year old to keep eye at all times and a baby; Sunny doesn't get as many of those special times, Sunny doesnt get the same attention. Its hard not to get a little emotional about that, life has gone to a whole different dynamic and I'm not saying its bad, its just very different and I am taking some time to get used to it. Yes, I am finding it really hard!

Getting sick also gave me that big reminder that Mum's dont have time to be sick, we can't just roll into bed and sleep it off, we have to suck and up and keep at our job of being a mum. In the midst of my sickness, it made me think about how important it is to have a good support network around you. That, when times get really hard, we can phone a friend and ask them to come and grab the kids. I had one really bad day over the weekend and I felt stuck, I really did. I don't have family around the corner I can call, but I do have a couple amazing friends but I didn't call them when I should of. I think as mums, we feel we need to keep things rolling along. But when things fall apart, we need to remind ourselves that it's ok to ask for help when we need it. It's ok not to be ok!

I know its only wednesday but I have faith in the rest of the week to bring the sunshine back in and make everything ok... What a shocker!

So who are 5 people you could call if you needed help? Let's note these down on the fridge.

* I NEVER GET SICK, really I couldn't cope!
