It's Australian Organic Awareness Month: Therese Kerr's tips for making your daily skincare routine Certified Organic

It is important that we only use certified organic products on our skin as 65-70% of everything we put on our skin goes directly into our bloodstream and organs and with the alarming use of endocrine disrupting chemicals in our skin, hair, beauty and personal care products, certified organic is the only guarantee that a consumer has that the products don't contain the following chemicals: TEA's, DEA's, Glycols, Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetics, PEGS, Artificial colours, Artificial preservatives, Artificial flavours, Phthalates, endocrine disrupting chemicals, GMO ingredients, pesticides, insecticides, NO PBA’s, fungicides, herbicides, Ethoxylates, Obesogens (that cause you to put on and retain weight and have been shown to cause the fat cells in your body to multiply), Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde derivatives regularly found in conventional products. I will never put on my skin what I wouldn't put in my mouth. Our skin is said to absorb chemicals up to ten times faster than by way of ingestion as our skin doesn't have the digestive enzymes to break down the chemicals that our digestive system has available to it.

Each morning I shower and cleanse my face with KORA Organics Certified Organic Cream Cleanser, I then tone using the Certified Organic Balancing Rose Mist and then I moisturize with the KORA Organics Certified Organic Soothing Day and Night Cream and then apply the Tinted if going out or if wanting a healthy coverage.

For my body I only use the Australian Certified Organic Divine By Therese Kerr Moisturising Hand Wash (great for the body) and the Moisturising Hand Lotion (we are changing the name to Hand and Body Lotion).

It is so important not to put chemicals in your mouth either as the mucous membranes under the tongue allow immediate absorption into the bloodstream and sadly just about every conventional toothpaste available on the market contains Triclosan (a registered pesticide), fluoride (which provides the mineral base, however, celtic sea salt is a healthier and much better option which does the same thing) and other glycols (absorption enhancers) that cause the body to absorb the chemicals much faster.  At Divine By Therese Kerr we have created a range of certified organic oral care products: Tooth Mousse (called Mousse as it doesn’t contain the fillers or thickening agents commonly used in conventional products), Mouth Rinse (great for assisting with and helping to prevent receding gum lines) and the Fresh Breath Spray which is self explanatory (I use this to spray my gums at work through the day to help with removing any bacteria as it is the combination of bacteria and sugar that will cause tooth decay). People are loving our certified organic products as they are so concentrated and do the same job as the conventional products without the harmful chemicals.
Needless to say each morning I tongue scrape, oil pull with coconut oil, brush my teeth and rinse my mouth with our Divine By Therese Kerr certified organic oral products knowing all the while there aren’t any hidden nasty’s in the products that can have the most horrendous impact on my hormones. (The World Health Organisation commissioned scientists from around the world to review the high incidence of endocrine disrupting disorders and the chemicals that are causing them and their 2012 report states that we are on the tip of the iceberg in relation to the endocrine disrupting disorders that we as a society are currently experiencing.

In relation to my evening regime, I basically do the same as my morning regime but sometimes if I require a little more hydration I use either the KORA Organics Luxurious Rosehip Oil under my moisturizer or I go to bed with the KORA Organics Hydrating Mask on my face – a luxurious mask that is super hydrating and leaves the skin feeling incredibly nourished.
