Getting that New Years Eve Glow

GUEST POST BY YVETTE FROM HOLISTIC HEALTH AND BEAUTY
source

First; start the day with a big glass of water followed by hot lemon to flush out the toxins to give you that kick start to the day.

Have some fresh fruit like blueberries, kiwi fruit , mango & oranges to give your skin some antioxidants. Little tip; try adding some chia seeds and goji berries to it as well.

Going for a 30 minute walk, yoga or run this will kick start your metabolism.

When you get home have a big glass of water with some fresh lemon or lime in it.

Then before having your shower, do some dry body brushing (You can buy the best one here)!! - This will give your skin an instant glow...

Now time for a shower-

Start the shower very hot for 2 mins, then cold for 1 minute. Do this a few times to get that skin pumping and get the cirulation going. Doing this everyday will help firm & tone the skin and boost your immune system.

While your still in the shower, give your body a good scrub! This will get rid of all those uneven dead skin cells and promote smooth glowing skin.

I like to use:

1/2 sugar
1/4 olive oil
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
Mix all together. Apply all over the body and scrub scrub scrub.
Please note: always do a test patch first.

For your face, I like to use some Bi-carb soda mixed in with some water to make a paste... Just apply all over the face. Scrub and then rinse off.

Mask time: coconut oil mask.
Apply a thick layer of coconut oil to the face and neck, leave for 15 mins, then rinse off with a face washer.
Great for all skin types.

Eco tan Invisible skin You can buy it here!

So now it time to fake it with the summer glow!! Please remember to always apply fake tan evenly and wash your hands well afterwards.
I love using ECO TAN - You can buy it here!!!

Ok so I have been talking about getting the body ready!! Its time to get skin specific...
Face time:
So the time coming when it means getting ready! And your thinking right! Make -up time... where do I start right? Well I have some tips for you...

First, always start with a fresh face -  cleanse . Tone . and Moisturise!
Then, because you want your make up to stay on for the night with all that dancing; using a primer under your foundation will do the trick!!! This will help your make up stay on and be long lasting.

So you have your primer on, now putting on your foundation you should be going with less is more!!!! You can always add more! (Its a lot harder to rub off if you put to much on right away).  Always blend and watch your neck line!! There is nothing worse in seeing someone with a face full of make up and it's not blended.
Choosing a colour that matches your skin is the key! You can always add bronzer to add more depth in colour.

Little tip; adding some illuminator to your foundation will give your skin a really dewy look and it looks amazing.

Once your foundation is on and the colour is right, and well blended its time to add some concealer.

Concealer should always be a shade lighter than your foundation.
I like to conceal under my eyes around your nose, and blemishes if you have any....

Once that's done its time to add some colour to your face (that's if you need any) with bronzer! I like to add it to my nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin. Always make sure you are blending well down the neck.

Little tip; you can also add some to your chest or arms if you want some more colour.

I like using a little blush! This gives you that little glow to high light the cheeks. To apply, suck your cheeks together and then apply it to your cheek bone. Once again, less is more!!! Peach and pink colours are great colour's to work with and they look great.

Eye work-

Eyes can be tricky so make sure you blend, and when using a eye pencil always sharpen it well so you get an even straight line.
If you make any little mistake's use a cotton tip to remove.

If you are wearing dark smoky eyes, then nude lips look the best.

If you are wearing bright red lips, then try just doing some soft gold over your eye lids.
Don't go matching matching!!!

To finish your look, apply some colour to your nails and toes!!!!!

And most of all; have fun..... Xxx and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Ps..... Please remove your make up when you get home!!!

Guess the Price to Win a Nutribullet

Isn’t Christmas fun? We had such an incredible day with family, it was really lovely. What I love most about Christmas is giving; I love shopping for gifts, I love wrapping them, I love watching the family open them and I love watching the look on their faces when they unwrap their little perfectly wrapped parcels… The looks are priceless; they differ from “OMG! This is amazing!” to “yeh I could use this” to “Hmmmm I could take it or leave it” to “Really? What was she thinking?” …

When we give a gift we want that look of joy, we want them to love what we have given them whether we have put time into finding them the perfect gift or just thrown something together that was hanging out in the cupboard waiting to be gifted. That’s the problem isn’t it? Some people are really hard to buy for, others we don’t really care too much about. We may need a gift for kris kringle, a long lost relative or one of our closest friends; every sort of gift giving comes with different meaning.  So what do you do when we’re on the other side of things, you receive a gift that just isn’t right? It may be something you already own or something that you believe you would never use, or something just plain out wacky. Yesterday I was lucky enough to receive two Nutribullet’s thanks to Gumtree, the problem is that I have something very similar so really don’t need it. Luckily Gumtree are running an Unwanted Gifts competition where any user who posts their unwanted gifts tagging #UnwantedGifts in their Gumtree advertisement will go in the draw to win an iPad.
In the last year more than 50% of Australians have received out of the ordinary, odd or crazy gifts, while others deemed their gifts unwanted because; it wasn’t something they’d ever use (77%), they already had something similar (20%) or they hated it or thought it was hideous (18%). A bit sad really but its good to think that someone’s unwanted gift may be someone else’s treasure and instead of keeping things locked away in the cupboard we can pass it onto someone in need and earn a little cash to put towards something we love or save for a rainy day. The gift that keeps on giving seems to be a thing of the past as 70% of Australians admit to knowingly buying undesirable gifts at Christmas, leaving 20.3 million gifts up for grabs with a value of $520 million. That’s crazy!

Apparently those not selling unwanted presents online are re-gifting them, with 9.6 million Australians, that’s 66% guilty of offloading gifts to someone else. I can easily fall into this category at times. While women are more likely to re-gift than men, both appear to be getting away with it, as only 8% have been caught out – a surprisingly low result given some Australians have accidentally re-gifted to the person that gave them the present in the first place. Have you done this??? I did once and it was way too embarrassing! I don’t know how it even happened. I’ll blame it on baby brain. Eeeekkkk!

This year I won’t be letting that happen, I thought I would keep up the gift of giving and gift this amazing NUTRiBULLET to one of you. I will give it to one lucky reader who can guess the closest price that I have set for the value of this Nutribullet . All you need to do is answer the question through the rafflecopter link below and you in the running. FUN!

In addition if you enter the #UnwantedGifts competition on Gumtree you can have a second guess. If you are keen to upload your unwanted gifts on Gumtree.com.au here are some tips:

1.         Be descriptive: Describe the product you’re selling, including its features, a brief history and reasons for selling the item. The more information you provide, the more likely you are to make a sale at the price you’re looking for.

2.         Make your ad visual: You will have more success with potential buyers if they can visualise the item you are selling, so it is very beneficial to include a range of images.

3.         Sell at a fair price: Don’t oversell the product or price it at more than it is worth. A great way to ensure your pricing is competitive is to research what similar products are selling for online.

So many reasons to be Merry... Merry Christmas Everyone!

It has been busy here this past 6 months as I work on treating myself and my son through this whole gut healing business, working on healing my thyroid, hormones, the everyday stuff both mentally and physically through food and emotional nourishment. Its a full time job to say the least and I have felt a little distant as the spare time I find when I'm not cooking or preparing food, I have been trying to be more present with my little ones and their dear daddy. I have learnt so much through my own families health journey that I want to share with the world when I have the time, its hard work but we are seeing such great break throughs its so exciting to feel like things are shifting and we are all getting on the right track.

Such a crazy year its been but so much love, joy and fun we have gained through our experiences. I just wanted to take a minute on Christmas day to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being such an inspiration to me and such a great community full of support and encouragment for real food, healthy family living. It is such an honour to have you all as my tribe and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all being so great by just being here. It is really special to me.

Wow! As I reflect over this past year and look back at who I was last christmas, I thank the man in the sky for giving me the strength and courage I needed to get off my butt and find answers and make changes in my life to feel good again as a mother, a wife and in me. Only 12 months ago; I was eating super healthy but I was 18kgs heavier, tired, miserable, stressed and hated life. I had a baby who was starving, had diareah 7 to 8 times a day, he was covered in eczema and he screamed all day long. I couldnt stand my husband, I fully believed he hated me even through all his attempts to make me happy, I was too embarrassed about my body to want to leave the house and I had a little girl that just wanted her Mummy to be happy... Life wasnt fun, it wasnt happy, it wasnt positive, and the future was scary. I sit here thinking that if I hadn't taken myself to that biomedical doctor that day, where would we be now as a family? Who knows... It makes me so passionate about how important Mum's health is and how we need to unite to make sure we are all taking the time to look after ourselves in the right ways for our own individual bodies.
Today I feel joy, our little family it full of love and happiness and you can feel the positivity that radiates from them into the world. They are shining with that happiness that we all deserve! When I look at my little babes I cant stop smiling and laughing at the funny and amazing things they come out with every day and I have never been so in love with my husband! Things have shifted in ways I didn't realise ever could all through our natural healing process. This year is good and I am grateful for what I have been through, what I have learned and how amazing I feel now and how in love with life I am again. I am truly grateful to have each and every special person that is in my life, you have all contributed in some way to the joy I have found again and I am truly thankful.

Only days away from the end of this year; I have so many goals for the new year; I want to have more time to share more of my healthy recipes with you (I have so many here, its just finding the time to get them on the blog), I want to share more of our story and I want to share lots of inspiration for mums out there that need that lift that we all do sometimes but for now, I will be chilling with my babes on the beach and soaking up the sunshine.
Thank you for being you...EVERYONE! Merry Christmas xo

Love Cass xo
My little sis and I. xo

You can view my 30 days result photograph below; my skin is feeling alot tighter and firmer and this is giving me more confidence day to day. In the past 14 days since I last checked in with you, I have been using the machine as recommended; 2 times a week. The machine is really great, its small enough to keep in your hand bag and you can use it any time of day with ease and I love that you dont have to leave the house to achieve the good results. I enjoy the feeling of my skin after my treatment and I look forward to using it into the future. REAL MUM REVIEW: The Philips AirFryer XL

The word on the street is that air frying is the new craze, 4 weeks ago I had never heard of it, now I am obsessed with it! Cooking can be tricky with kids and they need to be fed at that crazy time of night when they have turned a little crazy themselves and you just feel like the day should be over already. Witching hour is called that for a reason, its frantic, its like a race to the almighty finish line...bed time. I'm all for utilising machines for the kitchen to make mum life easier, some friends call me a kitchen hoarder, I call myself smart. As a mum, we have a hard enough time as it is trying to keep everything in our own messy order, we need to take all the help we can get.
Over the past few weeks I have been reviewing the Philips Airfryer XL, I would explain it to be a mini oven on steroids. It is so quick, way more effective, crisps up food like nothing else and its all round fun to use. I would say its a real food mums great friend as you can make your kids certain foods that you wouldn't really dream of cooking by recreating your own healthy versions and cooking them in very minimal fat, giving full crunch with no use of that dredded trans-fat stuff that we don't want to put in our babies clean little bodies EVER. I understand that fat is good for children's development and they definitely need it for their little brains but when it comes to the thought of deep frying, there is no way I am going to fill a pot up with a litre of organic coconut oil to cook my kids some healthy chips, its just not affordable. With the airfryer you only need to use 1 or 2 tablespoons of your oil of choice and it works its magic, this means that you can use a high grade delicious fat to cook and your food will come out perfect, its awesome!

My first day we whipped out the Philips Airfryer, I made roast pumpkin, beetroot chips, veggie ratatouille and grain free Thai Fish cakes. Everything was delicious! What I was most impressed by though was the speed and efficiency of the machine, the pumpkin took less that 16 minutes, the thai fish cakes were 10 minutes and I even made a whole crispy roast chicken today in 20 minutes...that blew my mind. When I make this sort of thing in the oven, it takes at least 15 minutes just to preheat and then at least an hour to roast the chicken.
My husband made crispy salt and pepper lambs brains (yep we eat brains sometimes), this was really cool, mainly because we NEVER deep fry food in the fear of feeding our kids trans-fat so knowing that we could make some healthy crispy 'fun' nibbly food that we wouldn't usually make was exciting.
The beetroot chips were great, we just thinly sliced raw beet root and mixed it with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and a pinch of salt, threw them in the air fryer and 15 minutes later had crispy thin beetroot chips. The kids LOVED them, such a great snack too.

We have had so much fun with this machine over the past few weeks, I think it is great for any family. The new XL size is perfect for all sized families and you can make as much or as little as you wish. Its a great machine for busy parents to serve up healthy, fast meal options.  Food comes out crispy and any excess fat drained away. The machine comes with a great recipe book too full of yummy of recipes and handy cooking tips and recipe videos on the Philips website can be utilised anytime. Its just an all round fun machine in the kitchen and its safe for the kids to be around. I would highly recommend checking out the Philips Airfryer, its never too late to add to your wish list to Santa either!
